THE STAR OF THE SEA This is one of my favourite organ recordings, and features a concert of French and Italian concert pieces chosen to exploit all of the resources of this justly famed 3-manual instrument, built by 'Grandfather' George Fincham in the Church of St Mary's Star of the Sea, West Melbourne. FIncham is probably Australia's most acclaimed organ builder and this is a magnificent instrument, played with aplomb by Sergio de Pieri. The CD booklet contains a full history and specification. |
